Our Mission
PawCircuit exists to cut through the noise of the AI pet tech boom. In 2026, every brand claims "AI-powered" features, but very few deliver genuine intelligence. We test every product hands-on, in real homes, with real pets — and tell you honestly what works, what doesn't, and what's just marketing.
We started PawCircuit in early 2026 after spending months frustrated by the state of pet tech reviews online. Most "review sites" publish spec-sheet rewrites without ever touching the product. Sponsored placements are disguised as recommendations. Affiliate relationships skew rankings. We built PawCircuit to be the antidote: independent, hands-on, and honest — even when the truth is uncomfortable for the brands we cover.
How We Test
Every product in our guides goes through a minimum 30-day testing period in a real household with real pets. Our test household includes:
- A 75-lb Labrador Retriever (mixed urban/suburban environment)
- A 22-lb Whippet (sensitive to collar weight and noise)
- A 9-lb Papillon (tests small-pet compatibility)
- Two cats (8 and 12 lbs, one with kidney disease requiring special diet monitoring)
- Three backyard bird feeders (suburban Maryland, mixed deciduous trees)
We test every product across at least 5 scenarios: daily real-world use, edge cases (power outages, WiFi drops, food jams), side-by-side comparison with at least 2 competing products, long-term durability (30+ days), and veterinary review for any health-related features.
Our Editorial Standards
Our editorial policy is public and enforceable. In short:
- No paid placements, ever. Brands cannot pay to be included in our guides or to improve their ranking.
- Pros and cons for every product. No product gets a perfect review. We document limitations honestly.
- Affiliate relationships do not influence recommendations. We recommend products we'd buy ourselves, regardless of commission rate.
- Quarterly updates. Every guide is reviewed and updated at least quarterly. New product launches trigger updates within 30 days.
- Veterinary review for health claims. Any product making health claims has its analytics reviewed by at least 3 veterinary professionals.
How We Make Money
PawCircuit is reader-supported through Amazon Associates affiliate commissions and display advertising. When you buy a product through one of our links, we earn a small commission at no cost to you. This is our only revenue model — no sponsored posts, no paid placements, no brand partnerships.
We chose this model deliberately. It aligns our incentives with yours: we only earn money when you find our content valuable enough to act on it. If we recommend bad products, you stop trusting us, you stop clicking, and we go out of business. The market holds us accountable.
For full transparency, see our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy.
Our Team
PawCircuit was founded in 2026 by a small team of pet owners, technologists, and writers who were tired of inadequate pet tech reviews. Our editorial team has over 20 years of combined experience in consumer technology journalism, with bylines at Wirecutter, Tom's Guide, PCMag, and other major outlets.
We're based in the United States and test products in real homes across suburban Maryland, urban Seattle, and rural Vermont — giving us coverage across the full range of environments where pet tech needs to work.
